Data requirements:

A Digital Surface Model and a Digital Terrain Model.

Description

A normalised Digital Surface Model, result of the difference of the Surface and Terrain Models, highlights off-terrain objects.

Why using remote sensors?:

A normalised Digital Surface Model highlights objects relatively to the ground (buildings, trees, ...) or ground objects (flat areas, roads, ...). A single elevation threshold enables their detection.
